Department of Natural Resources and environmental control (DNREC) will be conducting deer population management (i.e., hunting) on state-owned land in the vicinity of Fairfield Crest this winter. The actual hunt will NOT be taking place in the woods behind our neighborhood. However, DNREC staff may find it necessary to access the woods behind Woodhill Drive in order to drive the deer in the direction of the hunt. If you have specific questions, please contact DNREC at (302) 739-9000.

Landscaping Project
Over time, our neighborhood entrance has deteriorated. Our landscaping has been overgrown and cumbersome to care for and our sign has been vandalized past the point of repair. The civic association is considering estimates from a mason for a hardscaping project. This project would involve a stone or brick structure, similar to the structure at the entrance to Fairfield (although smaller in size). Although the civic association has a small budget, it may be necessary to conduct capital campaigning to fund such a project. If you have thoughts regarding this project or suggestions for consideration we’d like to hear from you. Please direct your comments to Laurie Hanich (laurie.hanich@millersville.edu or 463-1628).
Membership Dues
In January, the Civic Association will be collecting dues for the 2008. These dues offset expenses associated with community events (holiday gatherings, yard sale advertising), and are kept on hand in case the community needs legal representation. Please pay your dues!
Fall Yard Sale
Several folks have inquired about the possibility of scheduling a fall yard sale. Although we haven’t scheduled one in the past, if this is an event that you would be interested in participating, please contact us. With enough interest, we’ll put this on the calendar for next year.
FFC Block Party
Thanks to everyone who attended the Block Party last month. We had beautiful weather and lots of good food. Each year our attendance has steadily increased. If we missed you this year, we hope to see you next year!
